I will be a large dog in the 50-60 lb range and will make an excellent family companion. I adore kids! I'm spayed, chipped, have all my shots, dewormer and preventatives! I was very scared in the kennels but now day 1 after my bath and I see this great rescue with kids and fur friends I'm coming out of my shell slowly and am very loving~Just need someone to go slow with me as I don't know people very well and need time to adjust. He is a chow mix. He is a sweet boy. He did growl at my husband everytime he entered the house for a week. Then, everything was fine. No threats of verbal harm. He is house broken. He does nip and mark when he is stressed. He needs a house with a yard where he is an only dog or 1 of 2 dogs. We rescued him from being attacked by other dogs. He was very wormy but we were able to deworm but took several different formulas. He protective of his people. We can't keep him because he chases our pinkies and catches their tales. Paige is an 8 year old chow mix who is enjoying her second lease on life and she's looking to share it with YOU! Turned into the shelter by her owner, Paige's card was folded when we came across her. We couldn't let Paige's story end that way. We assume she was an outside dog because she wasn't potty trained, she had multiple ear infections that were left untreated over th e years (and have caused her to be partially deaf) and her health wasn't in top notch shape. After 6 months of TLC, Paige has turned into one of the best dogs we've ever fostered. She is now fully potty trained, she's in stellar health and this lucky pup went to Tail to ... (Read More)Tail Training where she learned how to communicate with humans and she blossomed into a confident dog! Paige is looking for her forever home to live out her golden years. She enjoys Netflix marathons, keeping you company while you do the dishes, and napping on her comfy bed. While Paige doesn't plan on running any 5ks in the near future, she does enjoy neighborhood walks and prancing around in the yard with her puppy friends. Because Paige has limited hearing (she can hear whistling, hand clapping, etc) she has really learned to take social cues from our own dogs. When she sees them rush to the kitchen because its dinner time, she'll follow them in there. When I call for them from the backdoor, usually one of my dogs will come first and she'll follow behind them. We think she would do best with another dog around, although she might do fine as an only dog as well. She also does well with cats and ignores them when they obviously have no interest in her. Paige is one of the sweetest dogs we've ever met (she even recently made friends with young kids at the dog park) and you can tell that she is so happy that she is getting a second chance at life. Rollo is a purebred petitte black Chow Chow about 14 months old. He weighs 38 pounds. Rollo is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated and tested heartworm negative. Rollo is on monthly heartworm prevention and flea prevention. Rollo is very much a puppy in action and in learning. Rollo is experiencing new adventures and learning manners. He learns quickly with treats. Rollo likes other dogs of either sex and would love a home with another dog and a yard for playtime fun. Rollo learned to use a doggie door in record time. He enjoys a Frisbee,a kong and a green stuffed giraffe he picked out at Petco. Rollo is house trained and sleeps indoors in a crate at night or he sleeps loose in the house with no issues. Rollo had a bath and a brush out. He has been to Petco for interactions with other people and pets. Rollo enjoys meeting new people. Rollo jumps up in a vehicle with a treat for encouragement and rides just fine once in the vehicle. Not good for very small children since he cannot tell what toys are Rollo toys and what toys are the child's. ALL toys are Rollo's. NO to cats, he thinks they are toys also. This is happy go 'Lucky' the happiest dog around. He is timid with most people for about 5 minutes and after that...you're his best friend. He gets along with all dogs he has met, but he has a tendency to jump into playing before the traditional doggy smell introductions are made. This scares some dogs. Others just jump in and play. Chow Chow Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Chow Chow is a big furry breed whose name literally means Puffy Lion Dog. Chow Chows are loyal companion animals but can sometimes be stubborn, obstinate, and overprotective against strangers. Chow chows need to be handled by a firm master. Chow chows can be aggressive with other pets but most are good with kids. Chow chows can live in an apartment and are equally good as inside or outside dogs. Daily walks help stave off behavior problems, although Chow Chows can be resistant to exercise.
