|Rescue Me ID: 17-11-01-00250Bailey (female)|
Bailey is a beautiful Lab/Chow Chow Mix. She is almost 3.5 years old. She loves to cuddle with her owners and be near them. She loves to run outside, take walks, fetch balls and of course she loves to nap. She is a well trained dog and knows commands like sit, whoa (stay), down, come, off and knows the words 'walk' and 'outside'. She is good on a leash too! She is house trained, but not crate trained. She is spayed, microchipped and completely up-to-date on all of her shots, there is paperwork to show it from our vet. We also have had her on flea/tick and heartworm preventative regularly. Unfortunately there is one reason we cannot continue to care for Bailey. She is very scared around new people and young children she does not know. When new people come to the house, or are around in public she gets very shy. If they try to interact with her, she barks, growls and backs away from them. She is NOT an aggressive dog, she has never bitten or tried to bite someone. Her instinct is to run and get away but she barks and growls to show her anxiety. We cannot care for this anymore due to a 3 month old baby and the amount of friends, family and small children coming in and out of our house. Bailey loves anyone she calls family, and it wouldn't take too long of living with you for her to include you. She is a very sweet, loving, loyal dog to her family. She loves to play with her toys, tug-o-war, run around the yard and be active. She would love a person with a nice sized yard. It does not have to be a fenced yard, but until she is fully invested in you and will come, I may not let her run free, she loves to explore! She also may do good with some specialized training for her anxiety and instinct to react to new people. We would include some toys, any extra food and her bed for her new owner. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 17-10-08-00072Rocco (male)|
Meet Rocco! Rocco came to us from a rural shelter after he was seized by animal control from a severe abuse situation. Poor Rocco had to have his collar surgically removed from his neck and has no front teeth because he ate rocks to stay alive. Apparently no one told Rocco though, because he is as happy and as loving as a guy can be! Just look at that face! Rocco shared his emergency foster home with other dogs of all shapes and sizes, but is now spoiled rotten in a longer term foster home where he is the only animal. He is so worried about being left for dead again that he makes his foster dad carry him outside to go to the bathroom and then runs up the stairs to come back in. He is house trained and crate trained and does not show signs of food guarding. He is very tolerant of kids, but we are hoping to find him a home with kids over ten, as he is understandably nervous around too much shouting. His fee is $100 to cover his neuter and vaccines! Chow Chow Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. The Chow Chow is a big furry breed whose name literally means Puffy Lion Dog. Chow Chows are loyal companion animals but can sometimes be stubborn, obstinate, and overprotective against strangers. Chow chows need to be handled by a firm master. Chow chows can be aggressive with other pets but most are good with kids. Chow chows can live in an apartment and are equally good as inside or outside dogs. Daily walks help stave off behavior problems, although Chow Chows can be resistant to exercise.
