|Rescue Me ID: 15-08-30-00502Sanda and Cindy (female)|
Sanda and Cindy are 5 year old Chow/Husky mix. They have been displaced due to owner moving across the Country. They have been primarily outdoor dogs- sleeping in garage at night. They are a bit timid right now, confused- not knowing what the heck! They are sweet girls who have not been with other dogs- so probably best to keep it that way. They enjoy a large area to romp and run- but needs to be a secure yard with fencing that is 6 feet or greater as they may want to break free- especially as they are so confused right now. They are spayed, and all up to date on vaccines. They love to go in the car! They just had a grooming- leaving faces in tact. Their fur is generally long but now have bear cut. Currently in foster please contact me. Probably no chickens unless with mash potatoes and gravy. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-08-28-00642Len (male)|
Len (Hopi: 'flute', German: 'Lion')is one cool and unique dog. Near as we can guess, he is a mixture of standard long-haired Dachshund, and Chow. He has Dachshund ears, close to Dachshund body shape (his legs are slightly longer and sturdier and a purebred Dachshund's)a face shape halfway between Dachshund and Chow, and a pink tongue with black polka dots. He is laid-back, affectionate, moderately playful, very smart, and treat-motivated. He knows 'sit' and 'down'. He is six years old, fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped. A great guy who has been waiting patiently for a great home.

At first sight I can be a bit intimidating but if you have a little patience and let us get to know each other then I promise I can be your best friend ! I have typical Chow Chow characteristics of loyalty to my own family and bond tightly to my master. I know many commands and just want to please. I will protect your property. I do not like strangers. I will need an owner who will make sure that strangers don't have access to me. The shelter is stressful to me because all these strangers keep coming around. I want to find a quiet home away from folks I don't know and trust. I am housetrained, microchipped and know many tricks. My owner was in the military and never returned for me.... I might be ok with an older submissive female but I think I would be happiest as the only dog. My birthday is 2/26/05 and I have been at the shelter in Prineville for almost 3 years! I have a friend who comes and walks me, I did not see her for a very long time due to family things but she is back and I remembered her! I am so happy she is back, she brings me treats! I love riding in the car, I am a very loving dog and need the right owner. I have a very thick coat, in the summer the shelter gave me a hair cut so now its growing back, I do get brushed but I have so much hair I think I am going to a groomer and you will see how beautiful I am. Please call the Humane Society of the Ochocos at 541 447 7178 to find out more about me...I am getting older and want to live the rest of my life in a loving home...please help me! love, Bandit...oh yes I will steal your heart! Chow Chow Dogs can make good pets in Oregon if they match your IifestyIe. The Chow Chow is a big furry breed whose name literally means Puffy Lion Dog. Chow Chows are loyal companion animals but can sometimes be stubborn, obstinate, and overprotective against strangers. Chow chows need to be handled by a firm master. Chow chows can be aggressive with other pets but most are good with kids. Chow chows can live in an apartment and are equally good as inside or outside dogs. Daily walks help stave off behavior problems, although Chow Chows can be resistant to exercise.
