We need your help.We need to find a good home for our dog Max as we are moving and no longer able to care for him. He's a 3 yr old Rottweiler/Chow mix former shelter dog that had a very tough upbringing. Because of his start he is a handful to take care of. He's not good around other dogs or children. But to the people he's comfortable around he's the sweetest, most lovable animal we've ever seen. Please if you know anyone or any organization that can help Max please let us know!

At first sight I can be a bit intimidating but if you have a little patience and let us get to know each other then I promise I can be your best friend ! I have typical Chow Chow characteristics of loyalty to my own family and bond tightly to my master. I know many commands and just want to please. I will protect your property. I do not like strangers. I will need an owner who will make sure that strangers don't have access to me. The shelter is stressful to me because all these strangers keep coming around. I want to find a quiet home away from folks I don't know and trust. I am housetrained, microchipped and know many tricks. My owner was ... (Read More)in the military and never returned for me.... I might be ok with an older submissive female but I think I would be happiest as the only dog. My birthday is 2/26/05 and I have been at the shelter in Prineville for almost 3 years! I have a friend who comes and walks me, I did not see her for a very long time due to family things but she is back and I remembered her! I am so happy she is back, she brings me treats! I love riding in the car, I am a very loving dog and need the right owner. I have a very thick coat, in the summer the shelter gave me a hair cut so now its growing back, I do get brushed but I have so much hair I think I am going to a groomer and you will see how beautiful I am. Please call the Humane Society of the Ochocos at 541 447 7178 to find out more about me...I am getting older and want to live the rest of my life in a loving home...please help me! love, Bandit...oh yes I will steal your heart! Chow Chows are loyal companion animals but can sometimes be stubborn, obstinate, and overprotective against strangers. Chow chows need to be handled by a firm master. Chow chows can be aggressive with other pets but most are good with kids. Chow chows can live in an apartment and are equally good as inside or outside dogs.
