Missy is a big beautiful Chow! She is 2 and a half years old and very friendly. She loves to play chase in our big pen and hide and seek too! She is unusually large for a female Chow, which means more to love! She plays well with our other female chow, Honey Bear, they are besties! Animal ID: 1072Thor (male)

Chow Chow Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Thor is a 3 year old Chow Mix who has recently found himself in need of a new home. His previous owners rehomed him after having a baby. Thor wasn't thrilled about having a new sibling and would have preferred the new crawling being to have had fur and a tail. When he was rehomed he lived with two other dogs, but his new parents found him to be too much to handle, so here he is again in need of a home where he fits. Thor is young and full of life and will do best with an active family and a home with a fenced in yard. An owner with Chow experience would also be ideal so that Thor has someone who 'gets' him!

Rescue Me ID: 16-03-10-00147BISCUIT (female)

Chow Chow Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed

Biscuit is a very loving, devoted sweetheart of a dog. She has had a rough past but has adjusted well in the past couple of years that we've had her. She is a chow-shepherd mix, around 4-5 years old, and is fully grown. We keep her hair short to cut down on shedding because her fur can get thick. She is very active- she absolutely loves to go for walks and to play with her ball outside, but only if you play with her! She enjoys being outside but would much rather be with you wherever you are, whether you are inside or out. She knows not to get on the furniture, but loves to snuggle if you allow her to. She requires a lot of attention but ... (Read More)respects boundaries when you set them. She was crate trained at one point with her foster parents and though we never utilized it I wish we would have because I think she likes the feeling of safety they provide. She loves all adults that she comes into contact with, but shouldn't be around kids or smaller pets. She can be great with other dogs once she gets to know them but can also be very aggressive towards them if she feels threatened (She was fostered with other dogs; the aggression didn't start until she came to live with us but we don't know why). She also has a small digging problem and loves to bury her bones. She has been through the Sit Means Sit training program and responded well to it, especially while on walks. Biscuit is a really great dog and we love her dearly but our babies will be on the move soon and we are worried she might react poorly to them. We also no longer feel we have the time to give her that she deserves. We want to see her go to a great home where she will get the love, attention and exercise she deserves. We are even willing to do a trial period and will take her back if it doesn't work out with you.*courtesy post* (Less)

Chow Chows are loyal companion animals but can sometimes be stubborn, obstinate, and overprotective against strangers. Chow chows need to be handled by a firm master. Chow chows can be aggressive with other pets but most are good with kids. Chow chows can live in an apartment and are equally good as inside or outside dogs. Daily walks help stave off behavior problems, although Chow Chows can be resistant to exercise.
