His owners say: Needing to rehome Fozzie is one of the hardest decisions of our lives. He is a wonderful dog, but he needs to find a new family without small children (we have a 9 month old) or other pets. Fozzie's perfect new home will be with a family with well-behaved older children, a single or couple. He is best placed in a home where he will be the only pet. He needs a loving family that will give him plenty of attention and exercise, and who will consider him a firsthand family member. To offer Fozzie a home, please fill out our pet adoption form here:http://petprosservices.com/adopt/. You can call Mark toll free at 888-9-PETS-4-U if you have any questions regarding this incredible family dog. Fozzie's Personality Meet Fozzie Bear! This big, beautiful, behaved, brown mutt is looking for a loving new home. Fozzie loves the outdoors, loves to run and go for walks, and is sure to stop anyone on the street with compliments of his incredible, unique look with a constant 'Man, that's a good lookin' dog!' Fozzie also loves to lie around and hang out with his people! Fozzie is approximately 5 years old, 75lbs, fixed, and has always been healthy and up to date on all of his shots. He walks well on leash, is completely crate trained, and knows basic obedience commands, such as sit, down, gentle, and stay. His owners say: 'Needing to rehome Fozzie is one of the hardest decisions of our lives. He is a wonderful dog, but he needs to find a new family without small children (we have a 9 month old) or other pets.' Fozzie's Current Home Environment Two dogs and a small child - too much chaos for Fozzie. Fozzie's Current Family: My wife and I have had Fozzie since we rescued him as a puppy. He is a great dog for a couple without small children or other pets. But we have added another puppy and a daughter to our family and he has not adjusted well. Fozzie's Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities? He loves to go for walks, runs, play tug, look at squirrels, and just sleep at your feet. He is not super food motivated, but does love treats of all kinds and table scraps. He is not a digger or a chewer. Cute Fozzie Story: Fozzie is very attuned to our emotional state - and one time my wife came home very upset due to some personal issues and Fozzie just stayed close, got up on the couch next to her, and put his head in her lap as the sweetest and most supportive he could be. Why is Fozzie Being Rehomed? Fozzie needs a home with less chaos - no small children and no other pets. He can be a little dog aggressive as he was attacked a couple of times as a puppy. We also had a very unfortunate incident with our 10 month old daughter where she went after his ball and Fozzie went and tried to gently 'correct' her like a puppy, which ended up with a cut on her head. She's totally fine, and we don't think it would happen again, but I can't take the risk that Fozzie might make another mistake as my daughter grows up. Fozzie's Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be: A caring, stable home without small children or other pets that can love this dog as much as he will love them. Additional Comments: We would be open to stay in touch if his new owners were amenable. If they would prefer not to do that, then we are most concerned with finding him a new, loving, forever home. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-16-00368Nico (female)

Chow Chow

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Abused/Neglected,
 Fearful/Anxious

9/16/2014 Nico is a stray Chow that we took in so that she wouldn't be taken to the shelter and most certainly be put to sleep. Our shelter here is always over crowded and Nico wouldn't be an easily adopted out dog. She first come to our neighborhood about 2 months ago. We tried to find her owners here in Imperial, California, but no one stepped forward to claim her. I was feeding her for a few weeks to keep her around just in case someone eventually did. Then someone called saying she was a vicious dog, she's not, and the police came to take her away. We asked if we could take her and try to find her a home first. We have tried for over 3 ... (Read More)weeks to find her someone, a rescue or no kill shelter to take her in, but everyone is full. We cannot keep her and need to find a place for her soon. Nico is a younger, female, unspayed Chow. I believe full grown, but have no idea exactly how old she is. I am assuming that she was neglected and maybe abused by her former owners, so she has people issues. She is very afraid of people, mainly men, and sudden movements. Very timid, but getting better with each passing day. She is best friends with with neighbor Chihuahua, ignores the cats, but doesn't like the other neighbor Schnauzer. Nico also runs away from kids unless the Chihuahua is with her then she'll be ok watching them play. Right now, Nico will follow me around the house, eat out of my hand, we are just starting getting her used to petting.%BD%A0She has no food aggression at all. I can put my hand in her bowl as she is eating and grab some. She is very delicate grabbing treats out of my hand too. She loves the little swimming pool that I got for her to help keep her cool in our very hot weather. She'll walk through it and sometimes just lie down and lounge in it. When I first got her into my yard, I quickly found out that she is part monkey! She can easily scale our fence, so whoever homes her would need a secure yard to keep her in. Hopefully a nice large yard because she enjoys sniffing things and running around. Oh, and hiding her poop. We don't have anything in our yard but dirt, so she will hold pooping for as long as possible and when I finally let her out front to wander she finds a secret place to poop! She's getting all the neighbors back for letting their dogs poop in our yard :)%BD%A0Not house trained, but working on that. She has just started coming to get me to let her out these past few days.%BD%A0Being inside for about 3 weeks now Nico is accustomed to all the normal household noises. Haven't run the vacuum in front of her, though she did hear it while she was outside and I was inside running it.%BD%A0 Nico was such a scared dog when we first brought her in, but I think she has shown great improvement these passed weeks. Before her tail was always down, now it's held high wagging all the time we interact. So much happier. I even caught her rolling around on her back the other day. something I don't think she would do if she wasn't feeling better and secure. Nico still needs a lot of work to bring her around, but I think she would make a very sweet companion when she does. If there are any questions, please ask, though I might not know the answers.%BD%A0 Jennifer 330 - 774 - 8162 or 760 -355 -0502 (Less)

A note from Honey's foster family: Honey is a healthy, 13-year old Chow mix. She has been living at Casa McKibben since February 18th, 2014. Honey needs a new 'furever' home where she can live out her retirement years. Honey is a rescue that was adopted by her family about 11 years ago. Due to a work assignment situation, her family will be living in Dubai for the foreseeable future. Although her family loves and misses her so much, it's virtually impossible for them to take Honey to Dubai with them. They are hoping to re-home her permanently with a loving family. Honey is VERY quiet and well-behaved. She NEVER barks ... even when ... (Read More)there's someone at the door and the other dogs are going crazy. She minds her own business and spends most of the day just hanging out in the house. She can do stairs on a leash, but she definitely prefers to stay on the ground floor '| even at night. Since we have all sorts of dogs coming and going all the time at Casa McKibben, we are very careful to supervise her introductions. When meeting new dogs, Honey goes nose-to-nose and wags her tail. She really appreciates other dogs that respect her space and don't bump into her or try to play with her. Even around high-energy dogs, Honey gets along very well so long as they don't knock into her. The other dogs seem to figure out pretty quickly that Honey just likes to be left alone. Honey enjoys taking long walks around our pool and will sometimes walk for 30-60 minutes at a time ... stopping often to enjoy the smells in the backyard. She really enjoys leash walks around the neighborhood, although you have to take it kind of slow and give her lots of breaks to rest. Like any senior dog, Honey really loves long naps. We have an orthopedic pad right in front of the TV in our den. She even watches TV with us sometimes when there's something on that interests her. Honey enjoys her food VERY much and is always interested in what's going on in the kitchen. She's a really good house guest and doesn't chew on anything. She knows how to use our doggy door with no problems at all. She is very good about going outside through the doggy door whenever she needs to relieve herself. We don't know how Honey would get along with cats since there are none at Casa McKibben. She's a slow mover and not into chasing anything, so it's probable that she would just leave any resident cats alone. Honey is safe and sound for now at Casa McKibben, so this is not an emergency situation. If you can help us find Honey a good home, please contact Mark McKibben at (626) 888-1544 or my email: mark@mckibben.com THANKS!!! (Less)

She NEVER barks ... even when there's someone at the door and the other ... (Read More)dogs are going crazy. If you can help us find Honey a good home, please contact Mark McKibben at (818) 324-8256 or my email: mark@mckibben.com. THANKS!!! (Less)

Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This senior gal is looking for a quiet place to spend the rest of her days. She is in good health with the occasional stiffness in the rear on cold mornings. She gets around just fine, visits with her friends every morning and loves to sit by the fireplace while her person watches TV. Nikita is approximately 11 years old. We want this lovely girl to have a chance at life and a loving, affectionate family all her own. She is approximately 50lbs.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Chow Chow in California
Chow Chow Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Chow Chow is a big furry breed whose name literally means Puffy Lion Dog. Chow Chows are loyal companion animals but can sometimes be stubborn, obstinate, and overprotective against strangers. Chow chows need to be handled by a firm master. Chow chows can be aggressive with other pets but most are good with kids. Chow chows can live in an apartment and are equally good as inside or outside dogs. Daily walks help stave off behavior problems, although Chow Chows can be resistant to exercise.
